The Mistake I Made by Paula Daly

I have been a huge fan of Paula Daly since her first novel, What Kind of Mother Are You? came out in 2013 marketed by wise publicist Alison Barrow, who also happens to take care of Kate Atkinson’s books. Ever since, Daly has published two other novels: Keep Your Friends Close (2014) and The Mistake I Made (2015). Ben Willis kindly sent me a review copy of Daly’s latest work this summer, and knowing I was in for a page-turner that would brighten up my week, I saved it until I had time enough to read it, which turned out to be the first weekend of October. The Mistake I…

    Exclusive Interview: Author Paula Daly

Didn’t I tell you there were some great things happening this week? Well, this is one of them! Paula Daly, author of Just What Kind of Mother Are You? and Keep Your Friends Close has let me interview her again. I had the pleasure of interviewing Paula previously after her first novel, Just What Kind of Mother Are You? was published. Now, she has let me interview her yet again, so thank you, Paula, for being so generous with Books&Reviews (now Bodies in the Library)! 1. Where did the idea for Keep Your Friends Close come from? I was having dinner with a friend who had been unlucky in love…

Keep Your Friends Close by Paula Daly

I became a fan of writer Paula Daly after reading her debut novel Just What Kind of Mother Are You? published by Transworld Publishers. After reviewing the novel, Paula kindly let me interview her and from that moment on, we have shared a wonderful relationship. When I saw on Twitter that her second novel Keep Your Friends Close‘s review copies were being emailed to bloggers, I almost begged to have one myself. Thanks to Alison Barrow – as usual – for such a good novel.  I knew I would like, but I was wrong, because I adored it. From Goodreads: Natty and Sean Wainwright are happily married. Rock solid in…

    Exclusive Interview: Paula Daly

I learned about Just What Kind of Mother Are You by Paula Daly by my almost-stalking of Allison Barrow – publicist of the wonderful Kate Atkinson – and who is also publicist to Daly. So, the lovely Daly started following me (she loves Atkinson too) and we started tweeting each other. After I finished and reviewed her debut novel Just What Kind of Mother Are You she was kindly enough to agree to this interview. I was thrilled! There were so many questions I wanted to ask, but as I usually do so as not to overdo it with writers, I stuck to 5. Here they are. Enjoy! 1.I know…

Just What Kind of Mother Are You by Paula Daly

Just What Kind of Mother Are You is Paula Daly’s debut novel published in April 2013 by Transworld Publishers. I first heard of the novel via Twitter since Kate Atkinson’s PR- Alison Barrow – is also Daly’s. At the time I heard of the novel, Alison was offering ARCs and I asked her to please send me one and she kindly did. This is a SPOILER-FREE review: From GoodReads: What if your best friend’s child disappears? And it was all your fault. This is exactly what happens to Lisa Kallisto, overwhelmed working mother of three, one freezing December in the English Lake District. She takes her eye off the ball…
