    Anna Karenina (2012)

Anna Karenina (2012) is the latest film adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s homonymous novel. The 2012 version was directed by Joe Wright who had previously adapted Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice back in 2005. In both adaptations, English actress Keira Knightley plays the main role. When I saw the trailer for Anna Karenina in September 2012, I know I had to watch the movie as soon as it came out and since it got a March release date in Spain, I decided to read the book first. Now, I struggle quite a lot with the novel and sadly did not manage to watch the movie when it opened so when I…

    Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

Anna Karenina has been on my TBR list for a long time, so when Mr. B&R bought me this amazing Penguin tie-in edition for Christmas, I was delighted. For some reason I find myself drawn to books with female character titles because they usually tell the woman’s story. But Anna Karenina was not exactly what I expected. From GoodReads: Leo Tolstoy’s classic story of doomed love is one of the most admired novels in world literature. Still Reading Anna Karenina

Hello, dear readers! Spring is finally here! It’s warm and sunny and showers show up every once in a while. And I go from loving it to hating it as easy as it gets! These past weeks I’ve been quite quiet. Everything’s fine, I’ve been studying, reading, writing, doing research and enjoying the first spring sunny afternoons with my friends. I’ve been also reading Anna Karenina and I’ve been doing so for some months now. The prose is excellent and I move from hate to admiration depending on who is the character focused in. I love Anna, I think she’s an incredibly complex character and once I’m done and know…

    Quote: Anna Karenina

My life has been some kind of a mess lately which actually translates in lots of things to do and no time at all to do them. I am caught in a working routine trying to fit in reading, lots of studying and some me-time. As Rachel from Book Snob puts it: Work has been overtaking my life lately. Time for reading? Yeah right. Time for seeing friends? I don’t think so! Time for going on cultural excursions? I wish! However, I’ve been taking solace in Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. I don’t know why I was so scared of this book. It is complex, and deep, but the gorgeous and…

    Hello, Spring!

Today I woke up to a typical spring day: sunny, slightly warm and really inspiring. I also woke up completely rested after some days having trouble sleeping. I also woke up to a day when I’m meeting my wonderful man for a date. And not only that, but I have a new pair of shoes I’ll be wearing today for the very first time. As you can guess for the lack of posts in February, it was not a good month, but now that it’s over and I see change – in the weather, in my mood, in growing accustomed to my new routine – I can stop smiling. In…
