I do not really follow any writer that much as to read anything they publish. However, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle means so much to me. With his Sherlock Holmes I started reading English literature at the age of 12 and since then, I’ve only read English/American literature with a few exceptions. I think he created a great character, ahead of his times and a true inspiration for a scientific mind yet, he is usually involved with that pseudo-scientific Victorian setting. Also, Doyle created my favourite female character ever, Irene Adler, the woman. She and Professor Moriarty were the only ones to fool Sherlock and hers was an original and simple way to do so! So, I guess sir Arthur Conan Doyle is my favourite writer because what he meant in my reading carreer but, as it usually happens, his style is not highly regarded nor are the texts if Sherlock and the wonderful mysteries are not considered. He is not a classic, he is not studied in literature lessons yet he created an institution that is alive still nowadays and earns millions each year.
